Tony Robbins On How To Focus

Allright I am really going to eat some crow here. Well, it will not be the first time. Awhile back I did an anti guru video. You can check it out here. I was sick and tired of gurus “launching” these overpriced internet marketing courses which were filled with mainly rehashed information. The endless emails threatening false scarcity, the proof of income and of course the famous $1997 price tag. Why always that price with the 7 in the end? Why not $1995? For kicks do a Google search for $1997. and you will see all dead guru launches.

So anyway, I made a video. The background was a sexy girl giving the middle finger. (Kids, this is why you should not drink and blog!)I went into a rant about the gurus and recommended they check out Vivek Narayan’s $5. internet marketing course instead. (I still do it is a great course. See the blog post here.)

In order to market the video I used the title hijack technique where I titled the video the same as the titles of popular guru videos in YouTube. Of course, Tony Robbins is the biggest guru plus he had just thrown his hat in with Frank Kern and John Reese so I guessed he was fair game. To be fair, Tony Robbins really was not who I was targeting since he really is not an internet marketing guru but he was the most popular so I went for it anyway. (That ethics for you!)

The technique worked. With no other promotion other than having the title the same as the popular Tony Robbins videos I was getting traffic and comments.

Something funny started happening. I actually started getting into the videos. Yes, I admit it. I actually was starting to like Tony Robbins. It made sense. I was getting hooked. Damn! I was supposed to be dissing the gurus and I was starting to like them! I was getting motivated. I was getting focused. I was losing the excuses. I was getting guruized!

Something else happened. I noticed that people do not like when you dis their gurus. Why? Because gurus make us feel good. They give us hope. And if I am dissing their gurus then I am dissing their hopes and dreams. Hopes and dreams are real. We need them to keep going. This holds true even if 99% of the people who buy any type of self help guide never take any action whatsoever on what they learn. Tony Robbins himself admits that most people do not even get past the first chapter of his books.

I once told a friend of mine that I had a great idea for a business. He said “whatever you do do not do it. It will ruin the fantasy!” Many of us are addicted to the hope and the fantasy that the gurus give us. The reality is not even the issue.

One person left a negative comment on the video telling me that I will never attract anybody to my business by being negative. I thought about it and he was right. Rather than dis the gurus I should go out and try to do better. What I disliked about the internet marketing gurus was that they were giving us hype rather than concise practical information. So that is what I am trying to do now with this blog. I am trying real internet marketing techniques and telling you about them no holds barred the way I would like to hear them. It is harder to build than to destroy. I am trying to build.

Check out this video by Tony Robbins where he talks about focus. Most of us are suffering from IM ADD and sorely need focus in our businesses. I know I do. I hope this helps. As always, your comments and “likes” are always appreciated.

After a career as a professional musician and band leader in the Miami South Florida Area I decided to see if I could make some money with this new internet thing. After years of trial and error I started to get the hang of it and now I am completely financially independent because of my various online businesses. The goal of this blog is to chronicle my continued marketing experiences. I focus on real examples of what works and what does not work. Google does not give us a recipe for getting our sites ranked. We have to use our own experiences to see what actually works rather than theory. I hope you enjoy the blog. Please let us know what you think in the comments area. We appreciate your feedback.
