Slideshare.net has an Alexa ranking of 151. This means there are only 151 sites out of billions of websites in the world that have more traffic than Slideshare.net. This is one of the most popular sites in the world. Having your content in pdf form on this site can only help get your more traffic. Plus you will have links from a popular high authority site which will give you higher rankings in Google for your keywords.

3. Start your own YouTube channel.

Start creating helpful how to videos in your niche and uploading them to YouTube. If is free to set up a YouTube account and YouTube is the number 2 search engine after Google, which owns YouTube. If you have a series of informative YouTube videos helping people in your niche you cannot help get more traffic to your website.

Stay away from blatant advertising in your YouTube videos. Help people solve their problems. How to videos are popular. Your videos will get a lot more views if you offer valuable information rather than a sales pitch. However, definitely tell people to visit your website in your video and include a link with the full “http://www.” at the top of the description of your video on YouTube.

It is easy to make YouTube videos. One simple way is to use YouTube’s Webcam Capture which will record your directly from the Webcam from your computer. Of course, there are many other ways as well. Here is a video on How to Record a Video from Your Webcam on YouTube.

4. Create and Upload Shark Videos on YouTube.

I know this sounds crazy but Shark videos get millions of views. Here is one video which has over 25 million views. It is a low quality video mainly a slideshow of different shark pictures. However, the thumbnail is quite is fantastic for catching our attention.

This strategy is just to get some traffic to your website. This will not be targeted to your niche. Unless, of course, you are in the shark niche! If you have an offer which appeals to a general audience you may get some sales. However, the goal is just to get traffic to your site.

Traffic is one of the biggest  factors Google uses to rank your website. Just do any search and invariable the sites that get ranked on the first page of Google are the highest traffic sites. Often they are not the websites which most accurately reflect what you were searching for.

For example, when I search for local businesses on Google I often get Yellowpages listings. If I type in Chiropractor New Orleans I want to actually find chiropractor sites not some long list of chiropractors by some mega site. But Yellowpages get an enormous amount of traffic so Google ranks them first even if there are better quality sites for my search.

Having high traffic videos with links back to your site bringing you real visitors can help increase your rankings in search for your niche even though the traffic is not targeted.

Making shark videos is easy. Just find Creative Commons (photos that are allowed to be re-used with modification) pictures of sharks, choose a catchy title, and use some easy software like Photodex or Animoto to create a simple video. Then upload the video to YouTube.

In the above example the author cleverly did not use any music to avoid any copyright issues. Take notice, on YouTube, of the videos which get huge amounts of views and see if you can re-produce their success with your own original videos. I would suggest using a separate channel from your main niche focused channel for this.

After a career as a professional musician and band leader in the Miami South Florida Area I decided to see if I could make some money with this new internet thing. After years of trial and error I started to get the hang of it and now I am completely financially independent because of my various online businesses. The goal of this blog is to chronicle my continued marketing experiences. I focus on real examples of what works and what does not work. Google does not give us a recipe for getting our sites ranked. We have to use our own experiences to see what actually works rather than theory. I hope you enjoy the blog. Please let us know what you think in the comments area. We appreciate your feedback.
