How to Write Great Content that People Share

If you’re reading this article, it probably means that you have your own blog and want to move to the next level.

The number of people starting a blog keeps increasing every day, but we all want to be heard.

People share what they read on their blogs and favorite social media sites these days, and aside from the fact that this is a vote of trust for your blog and article, it also leads to a lot more traffic to your blog.

The problem, however, is with getting people to share your content; it is with convincing them that your content is worthy of being shared.

How do you get people to spread the word about your articles? Here are a few tips below!

Tip #1: Do Your Research

Naturally, the idea is to come up with a title for your next blog post, come up with a few points, and start writing, right? Well, wrong! Too many people do that today that it is hardly effective, and to really get people to share your content you need to tap into their pain points.

You need to know what they feel, when they feel it, and how they feel it. You need to get into their minds and tailor your content towards their needs.

This is where research comes in. There are several ways to research, and here are some of my favorite ways:

  • Visit your favorite blogs and forum to see what the consensus is on a specific topic; examine a major problem being complained about and tailor your content towards solving it.
  • Visit question and answer sites to see what questions people are asking over and over again, and write a blog post as an answer to it.
  • Take a look at trends in your niche that are becoming more popular day by day, and look for a way to write an article on it.
  • Survey your own readers; tap into their minds to see what challenges they face personally, and use the results of the survey to determine your next blog post.

All these are various ways to know what your readers think; it doesn’t matter which one you do first, the importance of researching before writing should never be underestimated.

Don’t just take your pen and write. Know what people think before you write.

Tip #2: Start a Controversy

What topic do people always disagree on? What topic is always sure to spike a heated debate? Look for one and write about it with as much research and details as possible. Make sure your post pushes a lot of hot buttons and challenges people’s emotion; give little regards to what people will think or say about your post, but focus on getting it out first.

Doing that will result in you having a great post that challenges people’s ideas and opinions on a particular topic, and as a result lead to people writing about it on their blog and social networks to get confirmation that what they believe is right.

Tip #3: Challenge a Popular Belief

Why should people go to school? Why must people have religions?

These are questions that are always sure to lead to a debate, not because either part of the argument is entirely right, but because these ideas have been ingrained into us from the very foundation of our lives.

We’ve been brought up to believe how important going to school and having a religion is; it is our essence, and a change in any of these beliefs will lead to a huge change in who we are.

We can’t tolerate this, and here’s your chance to get some buzz.

Challenge popular beliefs; take a stand and make it known, and defend your stand as much as possible. It doesn’t have to be right or wrong, but people who disagree with you with spread the word with their fans to get confirmation that they’re right.

Tip #4: Follow a Hot Trend

What is that new movie that is currently gaining some buzz? What lessons can you learn from it?

What is that top trend that has been for almost 2 months now? What have you learned from it?

One of the best and most effective ways to create buzz and get your content shared is by following a hot trend. Everybody is talking about it, and your readers will look cool if they share something about it.

When something is trending, people want to have something to say about it; unfortunately, there’s never enough to say about a trending topic, and writing something thought-provoking about a trending topic might be your ticket to going viral.
