How to Get Free Traffic To Your Website From YouTube

The very simple answer to how to get visitors to your website from YouTube is to ask people to visit your website in your YouTube videos. This may seem painfully obvious but there are channels getting hundreds of thousands of visitors to their videos but nobody is going to their websites. When I check their Alexa rankings they are getting no traffic.

Let’s start with the basics. You first of course must set up a YouTube account. You can do so here. If you already have a gmail account just log in with the same credentials.

When you make your videos remember to put your websites address at the top of the description with the full http://www. This way your website will be visible to those viewing the video. This is very important. I see videos getting thousands of visitors but the website is buried at the bottom of the description. Nobody can see it. The goal is for people to go to your website. It is nice that people see your videos but if that does not lead them to visiting your website then the video is only good for your ego not for your pocketbook.

Now you need to confirm your website with YouTube. Here is an article which explains how to get your website approved with YouTube so that you can add annotations which click through directly to your website from your YouTube video.

This is a new addition to YouTube. Before you could only add links to other videos in annotations. Now you can add links directly to your website.

This video also shows the process.

Once you have your website approved with YouTube you can include links using annotations directly in your video which will take people to your website. So here is what you need to do if you want to get free traffic to your website from YouTube.

  1. Put your full http://www.yourwebsite.com at the TOP of the description of your video.
  2. Include annotations in your video which link to your website and where you TELL PEOPLE to visit your website.
  3. Tell people in your video to click the link in the description below to visit your website and give them a good reason to do so.
  4. Depending on the product or service your sell put your phone number in the title of the video. Videos get ranked very quickly in the search engines. People who see your video in search will see your phone number and can call you directly. This is very effective and most people do not take advantage of this.

All of this may seem very simple but I guarantee you that many YouTubers with huge accounts do not take these simple steps to get traffic to their website. Remember, the goal is just not subscribers, or views or likes which are all good the goal is to get people to go to your website. This is website traffic.

This is just a simple post but if you actually follow this advice you can get some very high quality traffic from your YouTube videos.

After a career as a professional musician and band leader in the Miami South Florida Area I decided to see if I could make some money with this new internet thing. After years of trial and error I started to get the hang of it and now I am completely financially independent because of my various online businesses. The goal of this blog is to chronicle my continued marketing experiences. I focus on real examples of what works and what does not work. Google does not give us a recipe for getting our sites ranked. We have to use our own experiences to see what actually works rather than theory. I hope you enjoy the blog. Please let us know what you think in the comments area. We appreciate your feedback.
