Starting a blog is a great way to start getting backlinks to your website. Everyday you can write short informative articles about your niche and if people like your articles they will link to them. The key is to be informative and helpful. You can also link to other blogs and many of them will automatically link back to you using what is called a “trackback process.”

You can choose to host your blog on Blogger.com or WordPress.com which is a bit easier technically but I suggest placing a blog on your own domain using the wordpress software. It is really not that hard.

If you need somebody to install wordpress for you try posting a job on Scriptlance.com. Post the job, and for $20. or less you have your choice of programmers to set up your blog for you.

There are countless plugins and them options available for WordPress. Do not get bogged down with these. Concentrate on writing one blog post per day. WordPress is very search engine friendly and your posts will start to get picked up naturally by the search engines. The more relevant original blog posts you make the more links and traffic you get.

The most successful blogs in the world like the Huffington Post and Mashable have staff writers who do nothing but produce content. The more content you produce, the more backinks you get, the more traffic to your blog.

The key is to get started now. Do not worry if everything is perfect. Just write everyday and you will get more backlinks. Make it a habit.
